Murray Mazda Recognizes Local Youth Leaders with Mazda Rising Legends Initiative

Chilliwack – November 16, 2023 – Murray Mazda, a leading automotive dealership in Chilliwack, BC, is proud to announce the success of our Mazda Rising Legends initiative. This community-focused programme is designed to recognize and support outstanding youths for their exceptional contributions to the Chilliwack community.

The involvement of these young people in our community service stands out as a beacon of hope in the face of this decline. Youth volunteerism not only addresses the current gap in charitable efforts but also cultivates a new generation of socially conscious and empathetic individuals. Encouraging and supporting the enthusiasm of young volunteers is key to revitalizing the spirit of giving back and building stronger, more resilient communities for the future of Chilliwack." said Chris Emery, General Manager at Murray Mazda.

As part of the Mazda Rising Legends initiative, Murray Mazda gifted a $1,000 scholarship each to these two outstanding youths who have demonstrated exemplary community involvement in Chilliwack. In addition, Murray Mazda gifted $1,500 in skateboard decks to the Chilliwack Building Youth Futures (CBYF) After School Hangout pop up skateboard park in Sam’s name and $1,500 to Cyrus Centre for the Youth Compassion Fund in Abby’s name. This initiative is a testament to Murray Mazda's commitment to supporting and empowering the next generation of community leaders.

The recipients of the Mazda Rising Legends award, Sam Huxley and Abby Isaak, were selected based on their remarkable dedication and impact on the local community. Whether through volunteer work, community projects, or other initiatives, these young leaders have shown exceptional commitment to making Chilliwack a better place for all.

The Mazda Rising Legends initiative is part of Murray Mazda's broader commitment to corporate social responsibility and community engagement. By investing in the development of local youth leaders, Murray Mazda aims to contribute to the overall well-being and prosperity of the Chilliwack community.

In past years, Murray Mazda recognized 2 local businesses in 2021 with our Local Legends program that worked to help rebuild Canadian small businesses in our community. Murray Mazda gifted $2,500 each to Cookies Grille and Blue Moose Coffeehouse in support of their resilience and community response to the pandemic and local flooding. In 2022, Murray Mazda shined a spotlight on 2 people who go the extra mile to serve our community. We recognized Franceska Hills for her work with the Chilliwack Hospice with a gift of $2,500 in art supplies for her children’s hospice art program and to Bradley Gionet for his tireless work helping welcome Ukrainian refugees to Chilliwack with a gift of $2,500 in gift cards to share with Ukrainian newcomers to our area.
